  1. This Project was just like a any other essay I’ve written with the reading about the topic then writing rough drafts along with the just the way it was set up. The part for me that helped the most was the peer edit it helped to get the feedback from someone else other then yourself or teacher. In a sense the other student could help explain what is wrong and needs to be fixed easier then a teacher sometimes. It was a long process but helpful in many ways. It was also very confusing because of all the new technology things we had to do with the posting all the drafts and stuff. It was different and not what I’m used to. But it was helpful.

  2. This project for me was a much easier process than when I was in high school. We had read Habits of the creative mind which confronted those hard challenges that we face as writers and also taught me about how when I was in high school we were taught these sets of rules to follow when writing and if you do that your not putting all your thought into it. The reading also talked about how you need to be open minded with your ideas and others ideas because you may be focusing on one thing then read something else and your whole focus shifts. In TS/IS the writer talked about how to summarize a quote and to make sure your explaining the author opinion and your. In my paper I was able to insert quotes that worked for my ideas and to explain them correctly. I learned how to brainstorm and set up how I wanted to write my argument. I was able to get lots of help from the peer review which led me to better my writing. Throughout this process I was able to open my mind to new ideas and new ways of writing.

  3. I like the experience with the project. There weren’t many guidelines and rules that were set to follow, it was kind of like a free write, in a way. The peer editing helped a lot too, and made it easier too. I knew what i had to add to make the paper better, and i got the feel of how another student reciprocated my writing. The experience was well and i liked it a lot. I enjoyed the process, i didn’t dread it.

After going through the process of writing four drafts I feel like that gave me a lot of time to actually look through it and make sure I was saying everything I wanted to. Instead of just writing a paper the night before and never having someone else read it or being able to add onto it, I just submitted it and went about my other homework. I liked having someone else read my work and get their feedback because it showed me some things that I didn’t look for or know and then I could go back and change certain aspects of my paper to make it better. Having the deadlines of only certain amount of words was nice because then I had a goal to get too without having to think too far or rush certain parts just to get to the end. It allowed me to focus on chunks of the paper at a time and not worry about finishing it all. Watching the paper grow was fun because with every draft posted you could see the progress and the paper coming together. I can look back and see where I started then look at the end and see what I changed or added to make it make sense. I can finally say after finishing this paper that I’m feeling good with what I wrote and am not dreading turning in something for the first time.

  5. Looking back on this Paper like thing was a very interesting experience. During my first draft, I was able to introduce the argument very well, but did it like in Pollan’s paper and during my peer review I had gotten rid of that beginning due to confusion for the reader. I was able to jump into the issue and later into draft 2 was able to provide details for others to follow in the process that I had experience. Learning something new and conveying my own thoughts and opinions on the situation at hand. In my latest draft, draft 3, I had concluded with my own thoughts on the situation, agreeing with Pollan’s new right, and what I truly believe is the next step that needs to be taken. Going over my peer review, I seemed to be missing my own opinion on the subject at first. Almost just summarizing what I had hear in the article. My reader asked my questions like, “What are your morals,” or “What was your opinion before reading the article,” which helped me engage more with what I was reading and including my own opinion on the matter. There were a few moments where I was lacking details in some paragraphs, so I went back to help explain how this is apart of my idea on this issue.

  6. I enjoyed writing this reflection about Pollan’s writing. I thought the whole piece was interesting and it made me question some of the ways I think about animal cruelty and the meat industry. It also changed my perspective when I read about Polyface Farm. I have always seen graphic videos of animals being killed in an inhumane way that I didn’t think places like Polyface existed. It made me happy to know that not everyone is cruel to animals. Besides the topic, i enjoyed writing the actual paper because I was able to my own thoughts into it and explain both sides of the controversial topic. I leaned in both directions when writing this because I don’t believe in animal cruelty but I also think eating animals isn’t a problem as long as they’re respected. When I enjoy writing about my own opinion in papers which didn’t happen a lot in high school so being able to write like this was beneficial to me. Overall, I enjoyed this project.

  7. What has happened on this process is the fact that we had done 4 drafts to this essay. The first draft was to get the general idea as to what you were going to say. The first draft was to be 200 words to help get your mind started on the essay. The next few drafts were adding more to the essay and making the essay filled with more layers to help get the point across to the next reader who would in a sense be reading this essay. All of these drafts up to the final essay is to help show the process of what you did throughout the work. Going from the beginning with nothing to making a full edited essay with having time to get another persons revisions and ideas and trying to work them into the piece itself; and it was to also give you their perspective as to what the peer editor got from your essay. The main idea of the essay was to show your process and your way of thinking. In the end it was more about process rather than the small points that needed to get done such as spelling and grammar and punctuation.

My experience writing this paper was truly interesting. To come from a place where you had to writing like a robot and not be able to express yourself is a major step up in my writing career. However, it was a slight challenge for me to write this paper because it is a different style of writing that I had to incorporate in my paper but the end result feels so much better. I feel as though a piece of me is actually in this paper and not just some robot following instruction. Also the preparation for this paper was way better than my previous papers. Usually I would just write my final draft a day or two before it’s done without any peer view or any rough drafts before it.

Cause i have been for sick couple times for the last week, missed couple class. Try to fallow up but still missed some of it. So my progress bacially start on draft 1 and then go stright to draft 4,even it takes me a long time to get it down. But still there may have some problem in the bigger picture, and i need put more effort on explaning quotation. However They say, i say give me a lot help when im working along, and i did my best of it.

My experience while writing this plt was a struggle at first, but then I got into a groove that made it easier. When we first were assigned this essay, I had no clue what i wanted to say or how to say it. My first instincts were to use the 5 paragraph essay format, and when I would look over the writing notes it wasn’t coming out the right way. As I started to use my own words throughout the essay my own ideas started to surface, and it felt easier.

  11. When I first started this project I had no idea what I was going to write and say in the essay and how it was going to be formatted. After having in class decisions, I was still concerned about the assignment. I knew I had tutoring the next day so when I went to see Professor Drowne he helped me with how to format my essay and how it was going to look like. What should be stated and where I wanted to start from. Doing the three different drafted helped me personally because we as a class were given a word limit which helped me space out my thoughts. When we had time to work on the essay in class it was helpful because we could ask questions and have more time to put our thoughts together. When I went to see Professor Drowne for the last time before handing in my essay he helped me on the information that I forgot or left out. We talked about how all paragraphs had to tie together. At the end of the project I thought it went well and hopefully I do receive a good grade.
